SHFC Reviews – Two Thumbs Up

The two latest reviews for Single-Handed Fly Casting appeared over the extended (for the USA) weekend. The first is from Aitor Coterón at onemorelastcast.net, the other is from Paul Arden at the one-and-only sexyloops.com.

And full disclosure here: Aitor Coterón was one of my go-to guys for English-as-a-second-language proofing/feedback. Fluent ESL readers often see things that might get missed otherwise, and can provide a reality check for instructions. But…that doesn’t mean Aitor necessarily thought I had truly written a solid book. At least I know for sure now! As for Paul, well, I’ve known Paul for a long time. He’s a friend, but he’s also someone who I expect to speak his mind and not put his reputation on the line with some sort of puff-ball review. I’m just really pleased that he found the text to speak so strongly to him and I hope it will continue to do so in the long term.

SHFC – Shipping Update August 30

So, an SHFC shipping update as of early morning, August 31:

I am in the process of having *all* remaining USA books packed and ready to ship (or already shipped) by the end of the Labor Day weekend. That’s everyone who pre-ordered/ordered through yesterday, August 30.

Next week (that’s after September 4, *all* NON-USA books will be packed and ready to ship (or already shipped). That’s everyone who pre-ordered/ordered through yesterday, August 30.

So, by next weekend (that’s September 9-10) *all* SHFC books ordered through August 30, 2017 will either be packed for shipping, or already be on the way.

My sincere thanks to everyone who pre-ordered/ordered a copy of SHFC. Your patience has been deeply appreciated, and I truly hope that each of you finds the informative quality of the book to be worth the wait.

SHFC – Where’s My Book?

If you have not yet received your pre-ordered copy (or copies) of Single-Handed Fly Casting and are wondering about your book’s whereabouts, there are three possibilities:

  1. It is on a truck or airplane heading your way (though you should hopefully know that by now via email).
  2. It is in my garage, either in a box or on an eight-foot table, where the book(s) will soon be signed and packed.
  3. It is on a pallet lurking in a local warehouse here—but not for long.

All the pre-ordered A/P copies and all the pre-ordered multi-copy orders (A/P or otherwise) should be out by mid-week. are shipped. I am now boring down through the rest of the list, getting reserved numbers out ASAP, with all the rest to follow. Guessing about two weeks to get fully caught up.

If you recently ordered (say, after the books arrived here in July), your order will be processed as soon as the pre-orders are out the door.

Once I’m caught up on everything, I’ll post here and on Facebook to be sure that no one on the pre-order list was missed somehow.

I appreciate everyone’s on-going patience with the process, and books should be in everyone’s hands shortly.

SFHC Review – The Loop

Another review of Single-Handed Fly Casting is in, this time from the “The Loop,” which is the casting instructor journal of Fly Fishers International. The review itself is behind a password wall, but here are some key bits:

We at The Loop have anticipated Jason Borger’s newest fly-casting tome, Single-Handed Fly Casting, for a year or more now … We can tell you the wait was worth it.

The book builds on Borger’s Modular Casting concept and provides casters with vivid explanations and line drawings in what we think is a very logical progression … All of this in Borger’s direct writing style, which is at times very detailed, but with an ounce of humor tossed in to take the edge off. The author makes all this fun.

The information one can glean from the line drawings themselves is worth the cost of the book. Good job, Jason.

I’m really pleased to see that it struck a chord in the instructor community. The book was written in part for those who teach fly casting, and I hope it serves as another useful resource for my fellow instructors.
